Once upon a time, in a very [1] small village, there lived a young boy named Tom. Tom had a lot of dreams. He wanted to build things, help people, and make his village a better place. But in Tom’s village, there was a big problem: there was a shortage [2] of many things. The most important thing they didn’t have enough of was metal [3].
Without metal [3], it was hard for people to fix their tools, build machines, or even make small things like nails or spoons. Tom thought a lot about this shortage [2]. He knew that if he could find more metal [3], he could help everyone in the village.
Tom became a seeker [4] of metal [3]. He would walk for hours in the fields and forests, looking for bits of metal [3] that could be reused. One day, as he was searching, he found a strange rock that had shiny bits in it. He took it back to the village and showed it to an old man who knew a lot about rocks and metal [3]. The old man said, “Tom, you’ve found a rock with metal [3] in it. We can get metal [3] from this!”
Tom was happy. But there was another problem. To get the metal [3] from the rock, they needed power, and the village didn’t have much power. They used batteries [5] for their lights at night, but these batteries [5] didn’t last long and were always running out.
Now, Tom had another idea. He remembered reading about something called a laser [6]. A laser [6] could create a lot of heat, and maybe, just maybe, they could use a laser [6] to get the metal [3] from the rock. The problem was, they didn’t have a laser [6] in the village.
Tom didn’t give up. He talked with everyone in the village lobby [7], where people met to talk about their problems and think of ideas together. This was the heart of their democracy [8], where every voice counted, and everyone could help make decisions.
One day, a traveler came to the village. He had been to the city and had seen many wonders. He told Tom and the others in the lobby [7] about a place where they could get a laser [6]. But it would mean trading some of their precious few batteries [5] to get it.
The village had a big meeting. They used statistical [9] ways to think about the problem. They counted how much metal [3] they might get and how much it could help them. They decided it was worth trading some batteries [5] for the laser [6].
After they got the laser [6], there was a big celebration. But just as they were about to use it, a tiny spider [10] walked across the laser’s path. Nobody saw the spider [10] at first. But when they started the laser [6], there was a little collision [11]. The spider [10] met the laser [6] beam, and there was a tiny spark.
The spark made the people jump back. But then, from the dust [12] on the ground, they saw the laser was pointing right at the metal [3] rock. They used it, and it worked! They got the metal [3] from the rock. The village could now fix their tools, make new machines, and build more things.
Tom and the villagers were very happy. They learned that by working together and sharing ideas in their lobby [7], they could find solutions to their problems, no matter how hard or impossible they seemed at first.
And the little spider [10]? It crawled away, safe and sound, leaving behind a shiny trail in the dust [12], a reminder that even the smallest creatures can change our plans in ways we can never predict.
From that day on, Tom and his friends kept seeking new ways to use the metal [3] and the laser [6] to make their village better, always remembering to consider the needs of all, from the smallest spider [10] to the greatest seeker [4] in their midst.
